Texas Frio Cold Storage

Frio Cold Storage is a nationwide distributor focusing on beef, pork, and poultry.  The building is 46,000 ft² of refrigerated space, with up to 40’ ceilings. This facility holds up to 300, 18-wheeler loads of meat. We designed and built a flooded cascade refrigeration system with stainless-steel piping, utilizing Ammonia to refrigerate the CO₂.  We then pump the refrigerated CO₂ to the evaporators, containing the ammonia inside the motor room, providing a safer working environment inside the freezer and cooler. This is the first system of its kind in Texas.
